How to Recycle Your Witham’s Coffee Packaging
At Witham’s Coffee, we’re always looking for ways to reduce our environmental footprint and make sustainable choices easier for our customers. One of our key initiatives has been the introduction of 100% recyclable PET/LDPE coffee packaging — designed to help reduce waste and promote responsible recycling.
However, we understand that recycling soft plastics isn’t always straightforward. Currently, Hornsby Council does not accept soft plastics in yellow-lid kerbside recycling bins, nor are they accepted at the Community Recycling Centre in Thornleigh.
If you live outside the Hornsby LGA, we encourage you to check your local council’s website for the most up-to-date information on soft plastic recycling in your area.
Where to Recycle Soft Plastics in Sydney
There’s good news for coffee lovers who want to do the right thing — several supermarket chains are now trialling soft plastic recycling programs across Sydney and NSW through the Soft Plastics Taskforce.
Woolworths
Many Woolworths stores in Sydney are participating in the trial, including locations in the Inner West such as Balmain, Ashfield Mall, North Ashfield, Leichhardt, and Marrickville.
Coles and Aldi
Both Coles and Aldi are also taking part in soft plastic recycling trials across NSW. The number of participating stores varies, so we recommend checking directly with your local store to confirm.
How to Participate
- Check with your local supermarket to see if they are part of the soft plastics recycling trial.
- Ensure your plastics are clean and dry before recycling — contamination can affect the process.
- Drop off your soft plastics (such as coffee bags, plastic film, and packaging) in the designated bins usually located near the front of the store.
By taking these small steps, you’re helping keep valuable materials out of landfill and supporting the development of more sustainable recycling systems across Australia.
At Witham’s Coffee, we’re committed to continuously improving our packaging and practices to make sustainability a shared effort — one cup at a time.
